Following on from our disappointing draw away to Bottesford Town last Tuesday, The Weavers looked to put things right against Penistone Church.
After yet, another late goal conceded it felt crucial that The Village would come away from Penistone with something.
The game started as most of our recent matches have, with Golcar on top.
A few early speculative efforts came the way of Daniel Naidole, who saw two long range shots go wide. Although they didn't test the keeper, it showed the Weavers intent from the offset.
Keeping up the high intensity start, George Doyle managed to find the opening goal for the third time in three consecutive games.
A nice through ball from Naidole set Doyle on his way, who cut inside and his effort was deflected and looped over the goalkeeper to give Golcar the advantage after 12 minutes.
The Weavers had a massive opportunity to double their lead after Rico Kilbourn, who was lively all night, managed to drill a low cross in front of goal. A half-hearted clearance fell to Doyle whose effort was blocked on the line.
The remainder of the first half was mostly dominated by the hosts, who had some controversial decisions go against them. Luckily for us, they had two penalty appeals waved away by the referee.
However, Church made the pressure count after a mix up at the back saw Luca Defalco smash in the equaliser on the stroke of halftime.
With the score level pegging, Joe Skarz and the lads had a massive 45 minutes ahead to try and regain the lead.
The second half was quite a cagey affair, there was a lot of hard graft and toil from both sides with a lot of turn overs in play, it seemed clear that a moment of quality would seal the deal from either side.
Jerome Bedeau was introduced from the bench just before the 70 minute mark, looking to make a difference just like he has on so many occasions this season.
Not long after coming off the bench, he met a wicked cross from Rico at the back post which just went wide. It was the Weavers only real key chance of the second half and it just felt like it wasn't going to happen.
Nathan Keightley, on his 300th appearance for Penistone Church, netted his 160th goal for the side after nodding home from a James Young corner, in the 87th minute.
It looked certain that another late goal was going to be the undoing of Golcar.
Thankfully, it was our turn to spoil the fun!
Callum Petch in the 92nd minute scored an absolute worldie to send the Golcar faithful into madness.
Doyle put a cross into the box which was poked away onto the edge of the area, where Petch smashed the ball with his left foot into the top corner to rescue a point for the Weavers.
With the game finishing all square at 2-2, The Village find themselves in 15th position and set to face Campion on Saturday afternoon.
After back to back to back away games, we have yet another journey on our hands as we make the trip to Bradford.
It would be great to see as many of you there as possible to cheer on Joe and the lads to hopefully get us back to winning ways.
Up The Village!
