MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Albion Sports (H)

Jack Howarth27 Feb - 17:30

Final game of February awaits the Weavers!

A win on Tuesday night against Bottesford Town, added another three points to what has been a super month so far. Now, Albion Sports awaits to hopefully cap off an excellent period for the club.

The Weavers managed to bag another four goals on Tuesday night, making that 13 goals in our last four matches. Goals from Jerome Bedeau, Ashley Flynn, Oliver Russon and George Doyle helped us on to another win.

All focus now turns to tomorrow afternoon, where we are facing The Lions who are winless in their last four games. The visitors find themselves only one point above the drop zone and will looking at making tomorrows affair count.

Albion played Rossington Main on Tuesday evening, a vital relegation scrap that ended 5-5. They are no stranger to high scoring encounter, with their two games previous to that being a 6-1 defeat and a 3-3 draw.

The visitors have conceded the most goals in the league this year, so Golcar will be looking to hopefully add to our positive goal difference and pull ourselves even further away from the drop in doing so.

It is our first meeting with the visitors this season, as we are also set to clash in the final game of the season at the Myra Shay. Last season, we lost both outings against the Lions, a 2-1 defeat at home and a 3-2 loss away. Like ourselves, they were challenging for a promotion but just missed out on the playoffs due to a 3 point deduction.

Despite the stats not being in the visitors favour, they still offer a threat. Nathan Cartman has scored 23 goals in the league this year, the second most in the division. He has also scored 29 in all competitions so far. The forward came through the ranks at Leeds United even being a captain youth setup. He has scored goals throughout his career at all levels of the game and will be one to stop tomorrow.

Hopefully, the Weavers can prove to be too tough of a test for the visitors and come away with all three points. Get down to the Skye Direct Stadium to cheer Joe and the lads on and help us finish February on a high.

Up The Village!
