MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Albion Sports (H)

MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Albion Sports (H)

Jack Howarth23 Mar - 17:00

The penultimate home game of the season awaits for the Weavers!

After a super performance against the champions Liversedge on Friday, Golcar look to build on their hard earned point tomorrow night against Albion Sports.

Leading on from the 1-1 draw, courtesy of a well taken goal by George Doyle who has now bagged 22 for the season and three in his last four games, we look to continue the strong end to the season in this rearranged fixture from the end of February.

Similar to ourselves, The Lions found themselves in a relegation scrap over the last few weeks, only being three points ahead of the drop currently. Albion have picked up their form in recent weeks though. The visitors come into the game on great form, having won three of their last four games, with their only loss coming against Bottesford Town.

Albion Sports have managed to keep two clean sheets in this recent burst of form, only conceding five during that period with three coming in the defeat to Bottesford.

League top scorer Nathan Cartman bagged a hattrick last time out, in their 4-2 win against Parkgate, adding to the mammoth total of 32 goals this season. Cartman put an end to his five game barren streak in the process. The forward came through the ranks at Leeds United, even being captain in the youth setup. He has scored goals throughout his career at a range of levels and will definitely prove to be handful tomorrow night.

Another key figure this season for The Lions has been Talent Ndlovu who has featured in all but one game this season, starting 32 of those 34 games. The midfielder came through at Barnsley being there from under 10s all the way up to the under 18s.

It is our first meeting this season against Albion Sports as we are also set to meet in the final game of the season in a couple weeks time. Last season however, we lost in both meetings with the home game ending in a 2-1 loss and the reverse finishing in a 3-2 defeat.

Make sure to get down to the Skye Direct Stadium for our penultimate home game of the season, to help get the lads over the line to another positive result!

Also, don't forget that we have our final home game of the season on Saturday against Parkgate. We hope to see you all there.

Up The Village!
