MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Barton Town (H)

MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Barton Town (H)

Jack Howarth16 Mar - 19:41

A third home game in a row awaits The Weavers!

After making back to back wins in the league on Saturday against Penistone Church, all attention turns to tomorrow night's contest against Barton Town.

The Village extended our unbeaten run at home on the weekend, thanks to a tight 2-0 win in which both Ashley Flynn and George Doyle got on the scoresheet, making that back to back games for the forwards.

With all the points in the bag, The Weavers have climbed up to 10th in the league, sadly a win on Tuesday won't see us climb any higher due to being six points behind Parkgate in 9th.

The Swans come into the game off the back of four consecutive league wins. The visitors have been at the top end of the league table for the majority of the season and are currently 3rd in the league table.

Tomorrow will be our third meeting with Barton this season, having met in the League Cup at start of October at The Easy Buy Stadium only a few weeks after clashing in the league.

The league game ended in a 3-0 defeat, with Lewis Stephens bagging a brace and Thomas Waudby scoring the other.

Stephens has scored 20 goals in all competitions so far this season, making him The Swans top scorer so far. Before failing to score at the weekend, the striker had found the goal in each of his last four games.

Waudby also finds himself in top form, scoring a brace last weekend in a 2-0 win against playoff chasing Handsworth. The winger has played over 200 time for The Swans, scoring 103 goals in the process.

Golcar got revenge however in the cup, producing a devastating 4-1 win to progress to the next round. Braces from both Alfie Wilkinson and Callum Petch were only met with a consolation goal from Ali Aydemir in the last minute of the game.

It will be our last game at the Skye Direct Stadium until Tuesday 24th March where we face Albion Sports, so it would be great to see as many of you as possible there to back the lads to hopefully another positive result.

We are also in action on Friday against newly crowned champions Liversedge at the Clayborn Ground, there will be more details across our socials later in the week.

Thanks for your continued support.

Up The Village!
