MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Handsworth FC (A)

MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Handsworth FC (A)

Jack Howarth5 Dec - 12:30

Away trip to Handsworth FC awaits The Weavers.

Leading on from our midweek draw against Tadcaster Albion, Golcar are set to make the journey to Sheffield to face Handsworth FC.

After what was a very strong performance from The Weavers, confidence will be high going into tomorrows fixture, despite our opponents finding themselves third in the league.

The Ambers have only lost twice since the 17th September, one of which came against league leaders Liversedge. They have also only drawn once during that period of time.

Similar to Tuesday night, we also conceded in the 89th minute against Handsworth early on in the season with striker Scott Ruthven making it 1-0 at the death.

The Village will be looking to put these late goals behind us which have dampened our season so far.

It could be tough ask to come away with three points as Golcar so far have only recorded one away league win, however now being unbeaten in their last four league games it is all to play for.

In our last outing, George Doyle managed to bag his 15th goal of the campaign. He will be hoping to add to his tally this weekend against familiar opposition. Last season the striker managed to bag three goals against Handsworth, two of which came at the Express Worktops Stadium.

In last seasons 3-3 away draw, Jerome Bedeau also managed to get on the scoresheet. Following on from his recent good form, he will be also hoping to add to his account this weekend.

Defender Kiero Lawrence has recently returned to the side and has impressed over the last few games, but he will have his work cut out against the high-scoring side. Striker Mitchell Dunne has been central to the good things The Ambers have done this season, managing to net 11 of the 40 goals the side have scored so far.

Dunne isn't far off becoming the all time appearance maker for the hosts as well as closing in on becoming the clubs all time top goal scorer.

Depending on results elsewhere, due to our superior goal difference we could rise up to as high as 12th place if we manage to get all three points. A win for the hosts can see them close the gap on top spot and climb to second in the table.

It's looking like it could be a wet one on Saturday, so if you are making the trip to cheer on Joe Skarz and the lads make sure to wrap up.

It would be great to see as many of you Weaver's fans to make the journey, we hope to see you all there.

Up The Village!
