MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Horbury Town (A)

Samuel Dearnley2 Mar - 18:00

First game of March sees Weavers clash with revived Horbury

With the Weavers' last game of February called off on Saturday, they head into March and with a spring in their step.

Taking nine points from a possible twelve, Golcar have pulled clear of the drop zone by five points.

A big part of that has been the exceptional home form, winning the last three at the Skye Direct Stadium. However, tomorrow’s trip to Horbury presents a different challenge because it's been away fixtures that have scuppered the Weavers' form.

All six of our latest defeats have come away from home which is something Joe Skarz's men will be looking to put right, and the victory over Thackley at the start of February showed it's very possible.

Recently a huge strength of the team has been the variety of goal scorers.

Earlier in the season, reliance on George Doyle for goals was evident but with the additions of Ashley Flynn and Oliver Russon, in recent weeks goals have been coming from all over the pitch on a regular basis.

For Horbury Town recently it's been a similar story.

'Town' fired in eleven goals in four games in February, with seven different players getting on the scoresheet.

This has helped them pick up six points from their last nine available, two of those being 4-0 victories.

Key for the goals throughout the season has been Joe Jagger.

Jagger featured a couple of seasons ago for local rivals Emley AFC, and during his time there returned from a double leg break which threatened to end his career.

The striker has bounced back brilliantly from that injury and has 10 goals this campaign including a 35-yard free-kick earlier in the season against Tadcaster Albion.

Keeping him quiet will be a big factor in getting three points.

Expect a goal-filled evening tomorrow. We look forward to seeing you all there!
