MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Parkgate (H)

Samuel Dearnley27 Mar - 18:00

Weavers kick-off final three fixtures with home game against Parkgate

With Tuesday's scheduled game against Albion Sports called off earlier this week, Golcar's final three fixtures are now clustered into the space of a week.

Only a point is needed from these three to secure mathematical survival, thanks to a solid run of form over the last few months.

There's only been one home defeat since the turn of the year so the lads will definitely be looking to keep it that way until the end of the season.

Last time out was a visit to champions Liversedge who had wrapped up the league the week prior, but the Weavers showed at their liveliest they can compete with the best in the division.

It ended 1-1, both sides had good chances to win the game, Alfie Wilkinson nearly scoring a long-range effort which smacked the post.

Looking ahead to Saturday's opponents, our visit to Parkgate back in November was a nine-goal thriller, with Parkgate eventually taking all three points.

On that day Daniel Naidole bagged his first Golcar goal of the season but the man of the match was definitely the Steelmen's sharp striker Bradley Gregory who found the net four times.

He hasn’t scored since, so the Weavers will hope the staunch backline can keep him out this time.

The Steelmen have been streaky this season. They picked up three wins from three in December which put them just four points off 4th at the time.

Whilst they've only dropped one place since then, they are now 20 points off 4th but sitting safe and sound in 9th place.

There's no doubt that if Parkgate can put some difficult form behind them they'll provide a stern test and hopefully an entertaining game at the Skye Direct tomorrow.

The Weavers can finish as high as 9th if they win their remaining fixtures, ending the season in good form should only bode well for what's to come next campaign.

Especially with the confirmation that earlier this month Oliver Russon, and now George Doyle and Alfie Wilkinson have signed on to play under Joe Skarz next campaign.

It is also Non-League Day tomorrow, so there’s no better time to get down to the Skye Direct stadium, support your local club and experience football at its most authentic. Your support makes the difference.

See you tomorrow, Up The Village!
