MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Penistone Church (H)

MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Penistone Church (H)

Jack Howarth13 Mar - 17:00

Another home game awaits The Weavers!

Golcar extended their solid home form on Tuesday with a dominant win over relegation threatened Rossington Main.

Goals from Oliver Russon, George Doyle and Ashley Flynn helped The Village on their way to a 3-0 victory, opening up a six gap between us and the relegation positions.

Yet another impressive display at home, where we have experienced most of our good work this season having only won twice away so far. Tomorrow's visitors are Penistone Church who come into the game in 11th place only two points ahead of ourselves.

Penistone are winless in their last three games and are without a win on the road since the back end of December. The side have gone through a rough patch of form since the turn of the year only recording two wins and an abundance of draws.

They have only managed to record three league wins since October.

With only five clean sheets all season, in all competitions, expect there to be goals in the game. The visitors have conceded 71 so far in the league alone, currently sitting on a minus 21 goal difference.

It proves to be an excellent opportunity for our forward line to add to their ever-growing tallies. Both Flynn and Doyle find themselves in the top six of the leagues top scorers, with Flynn only two behind Souleymane Coulibaly who is top.

Last time we met Penistone came in the middle of November, an affair that finished 2-2 after a last minute equaliser from Callum Petch. Nathan Keightley, on the night of his 300th appearance, scored what looked to be a late winner for the hosts but a 'Petch Perfect' strike meant we left with the points shared.

Keightley is the visitors top scorer this year with 13 in the league but is without a goal from open play in his last six games. However, during that time the forward has converted two penalties.

Another opportunity awaits for us to finally dispel all talks of relegation and finish the season on a high!

We hope to see as many of you as possible at the Skye Direct Stadium tomorrow to help cheer the boys on to back to back wins.

Up The Village!
