MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Rossington Main (H)

MATCH PREVIEW | Golcar United vs Rossington Main (H)

Jack Howarth2 Jan - 17:00

First game of 2026 awaits.

The Weavers ended the year on a high after beating Leeds UCFA in the West Riding County Cup, thanks to late heroics from Rico Kilbourn and Romario Dunkley.

Joe Skarz and the lads will be looking to get back into winning ways in the league, after not finding a win since the 22nd November where we beat Pickering Town 2-0.

We face Rossington Main now in league action, we last met with tomorrow's visitors at the beginning of September. A late equaliser from Archie Micklewaite cancelled out Alfie Wilkinson's goal at the end of the first half. The last minute goal denied us our first win of the campaign.

Rosso have struggled so far this season, finding themselves 19th in the league and three points adrift from safety. Despite having a good start to the campaign, their early form has disappeared now with only one win in their last six games.

Despite their poor form, the visitors will still pose a threat. Similar to ourselves, they've found themselves on the wrong side of some close contests and have struggled with finding their early season consistency.

Silas Valladolid-Collins has found himself in some good scoring form, netting three times in his last three games. The midfielder signed for Rossington back in September joining from Retford. The talented midfielder had a stand out campaign for Parkgate back in the 2023/24 season scoring 22 times and winning the league.

Paul Sherburn has been an ever present so far for Rosso. He can play anywhere down the right hand side of the pitch and has been a consistent performer for the side, scoring six times in all competitions. Sherburn is currently Rossington's longest serving player at the club featuring over 200 times for the side.

It will no doubt be a tough test in what could be a key fixture in the relegation battle. A massive six pointer is on the cards and we will need all your support to help us get over the line tomorrow. We hope to see as many of you at the Skye Direct Stadium as always, Up The Village!
