MATCH PREVIEW | Pickering Town (A)

The Weavers travel to Pickering for their first away game of the season on Tuesday night

"If we carry on with our same performance levels, we can beat anyone"
- Joe Skarz

It's back to league action for Golcar United on Tuesday night as the club travel to 11th place Pickering Town for their first away trip of the campaign in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division

Joe Skarz's side has had a tough start to their 25/26 with two home defeats. One against Campion in the league and then a FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round loss against Ramsbottom United on Saturday, both ending 2-1.

A result on Tuesday would give the Weavers a boost and kick start this new season before a home game against the world's oldest football club in Sheffield FC on Friday night.

In the first gameweek, Pickering drew away at Parkgate before a late Jordan Hines winner helped them to a 3-2 victory in the FA Cup against Penrith last Friday.

Last season, Golcar acheived the double over Tuesday's oppenents with Callum Petch scoring a quick double header within three minutes of each other away from home and a goal each from Alfie Wilkinson and George Doyle in the first six minutes at the Skye Direct Stadium.

Golcar manager Skarz feels his team have been unlucky not to get anything out of their first two games.

"I feel we have deserevd something", he explained, "I was particulary pleased with Saturday's (FA Cup) performance as I thought we really controlled the ball well but got undone by two set pieces.

Skarz described that, "It's always nice to get that first win after two good performances. If we carry on with our same performance levels, I am confident we can beat anyone".

Mill Lane awaits the Weavers as they look for a big three points!
