MATCH REPORT | Golcar United vs Bottesford Town (H)

Jack Howarth25 Feb - 12:00

Five goal thriller as Golcar come out as victors!

Yet another win in February, as The Weavers make it three wins from four after a dominant 4-1 win against Bottesford Town.

With the absence of Isaac Baldwin, who has made a great impact since joining the club, young defender Jackson Durham came back into the fold. Alfie Wilkinson was also missing meaning Samuel Eriamiator made his first start in the middle of the park.

Despite the changes, Golcar looked assured throughout the game and controlled for the majority of the match.

The lads got off to the perfect start scoring just after the ten minute mark, thanks to a moment of individual brilliance from Jerome Bedeau. The midfielder drove about 25 yards before letting fly outside the box, rifling into the right hand side of the goal giving the Weavers the early advantage.

Ashley Flynn got in on the act only two minutes after the opener. A superb cross from Kiero Lawrence (don't ask us what he was doing on the wing) found Flynn lurking in the six yard box, just glancing it into the far corner. Two goals in quick succession and the Village were flying.

The dominance continued with confidence running high. Chances from Flynn and Harvey Booth could have added to our advantage but both were unlucky.

A two goal advantage at half time gave the Weavers a cushion to come back out after the break with some security and an opportunity to keep pushing and to add to the score line.

Add to the score line is just what they did!

Around the hour mark Oliver Russon produced a moment of pure quality. The winger cut inside before exchanging a one two with Flynn, then fired into the top right corner another great goal for the evening.

Just like the first half, another in little to no time, this time George Doyle getting in on the act. The skipper is played in by Flynn, getting his second assist of the evening, he took a touch and caressed the ball into the far corner.

At 4-0, the game looked to be wrapped up.

A late penalty scored by Okera Simmonds gave the visitors a consolation in stoppage time, otherwise it was a truly convincing result and performance.

So convincing that goalkeeper, Harry Stead made a substitute cameo replacing Booth and going up front for the last three minutes. A perfect night, all that was missing was seeing Joe Skarz make a substitute appearances!

Another three points in the bank, making what is so far been a fantastic February. We will be hoping to add to our tally this weekend against Albion Sports. We are back at the Skye Direct Stadium, so get down and support the lads and help us on our way to another three points.

Thanks for your support as always.

Up The Village!
