The Weavers kick off the month of November with a defeat to Parkgate FC, making it back to back losses in the league.
I know that in our match preview we mentioned there may have been a chance of a few goals on show, but nine goals is something else.
The Village got off to a dream start with George Doyle scoring within the first five minutes. Rico Kilbourn saw his shot deflected towards the back post, where our number nine slid in to tap home the opener.
Despite the perfect start, the remainder of the first half was quite sloppy at times. A lot of turnovers in possession led to neither side being able to take control.
Parkgate took this open game by the scruff of the neck, scoring in the 26th minute, with Bradley Gregory slotting home well after a one on one with Harry Stead.
After the leveler, it only looked like Parkgate would score again, which they did.
Bradley Gregory netted his second of the game after a cross from the left hand side found his head at the back post. He rose highest in the box and his looping header back across goal found its place in the top corner.
Going in to half time 2-1 down, Golcar had to bounce back and bounce back they did.
Straight after the break Zach Rushworth was played through on goal, following a great driving run by Kallum Reid. The forward managed to produced a tidy finish from a tight angle to get us back level.
From there the Weavers looked likely to get themselves back in front.
Substitutes Callum Petch and debutant Kurtis Havenhand linked up well just after the hour mark. Havenhand put a great cross into the box and Petch on the volley smashed home our third goal of the afternoon.
Then out of nowhere, a manic five minute period saw the Weavers hopes of victory disappear into thin air.
A goal from the home sides captain, Alex Wonham, came almost immediately from kick off. A mix up at the back saw the ball trickle behind Stead, and Wonham tapped home into an empty net.
Only moments after Gregory got in on the action, again, producing a superb finish to put Parkside back in front again, whilst also securing his hattrick.
At 4-3 down, Golcar had to push forward. With more and more gaps appearing, Gregory managed to find the net again, taking his tally to four for the afternoon.
Daniel Naidole scored his first goal of the season during injury time, an acrobatic finish on the volley provided The Village a lifeline with only minutes to spare.
In the dying stages of the game, a bombardment of crosses found their way into the Parkgate area, but sadly for Golcar they were all dealt with well by the defence.
With the referee blowing the final whistle, it meant Golcar record a 5-4 defeat and make it back to back losses in the league for the first time since the end of August.
Currently, the Weavers find themselves in 16th position and two points clear of the relegation places.
The Village are back in action on Tuesday night looking to bounce back emphatically as we face Bottesford Town away, who find themselves in 18th place.
Thank you to all the fans who made the trip to Parkgate, we hope to see as many of you as possible at Bottesford Town.
Up The Village!
