For the second time this month Sheffield visited the Skye Direct Stadium. Due to some electrical faults causing the floodlights to be in darkness in the original fixture, the game was sadly abandoned in the 80th minute with Sheffield leading 1-0.
With the game not fulfilling the entire 90 minutes, Golcar had the opportunity to rewrite the wrongs in the previous fixture. Unfortunately for Weavers fans the only thing electric about this game was Sheffield.
In the opening five minutes Golcar produced some good football down the right hand side which saw Kallum Reid, Romario Dunkley and Ryan Hall link up well. Hall managed to pick out Max Leonard in the middle but his effort was blocked.
The visitors rode the wave of pressure well and took control of the game from there.
The visitors set the tone immediately opening the scoring on the ten minute mark. Harry Spooner was set free in behind the Golcar defence thanks to a lovely through ball. The winger kept his cool one on one and slotted home the opener.
From there the evening just got worse and worse for Golcar. Hall , who started quite lively, was forced off in the first half due to an injury.
Then not long before the close of the half, Alex Hardwick doubled the oppositions lead. The ball was bouncing around the Golcar box, the captain Connor Cutts poked the ball through to the number nine who slotted home an almost identical finish to the first of the evening.
With a mountain to climb in the second half, the Weavers started well. Some confident football and possession in and around the Sheffield box gave Golcar fans some hope.
But as the saying goes, it's the hope that kills you.
A superb cross from Spooner picked out Nathaniel Crofts at the back post who volleyed home a third of the evening for the visitors, putting the contest well and truly to bed.
Then in the 91st minute, the referee put the final nail in the coffin as he pointed to the penalty spot to give Sheffield the opportunity to make it four.
The subsequent penalty was saved well by Max Clayton, but the substitute Blake Freeman poked home the rebound.
The contest finished 4-0 to the visitors which sees the Weavers into bottom place of the league table.
It was yet another tough evening for Golcar, but we're back in action on Saturday away against third placed Barton Town.
Safe journey to all those fans who make the trip across to Humber, we will see you all there!
