Off the back of a win last weekend and a solid away draw midweek, the Weavers returned to action against Sheffield FC.
The challenge was clear: to do what no other team has this season and pick up three points at the Home of Football Stadium.
Joe Skarz made a couple of changes to his starting eleven with Aston Wilson coming back in between the sticks and Samuel Eriamiator coming in for Oliver Russon in midfield.
The bench featured three new signings including Hugo Bennett, who returns on a work experience loan until the end of the season, Luke Schofield and Bailey Thompson.
Ten minutes in, Golcar were looking comfortable with no real chances for the 355-strong crowd to get excited about.
After 15 minutes, Alfie Wilkinson brough the ball down on the right-hand side a couple of yards inside the Sheffield half, he drove past a couple using his quick feet and strength before darting into the box, chopping inside and firing in off the underside of the bar with his weaker left foot.
It was a stunning effort and gave the Weavers exactly what they needed - something to hang on to.
Unfortunately, they couldn’t for long.
With the next chance of the game, Sheffield FC equalised.
It came from the Sheffield right where tricky winger Nathaniel Crofts, drove down the flank and dinked a ball to the back post for Danny Edwards who couldn’t miss with his head from a few yards out.
Then it went from bad to worse.
Jackson Durham was playing well and up for it from the start but was booked after half an hour.
Soon after, Crofts ran at him and Durham misjudged his tackle leading to the referee handing out a second yellow and then the inevitable red.
A huge setback for Golcar who had been growing into the game.
The Weavers were able to see out the last ten minutes of the first half without conceding, as Skarz brought on Rico Kilbourn for Eriamiator.
The hosts' striker Alexander Hardwick is one of the most prolific in the league, with 23 in 22 games before this one.
His quality shone through just ten minutes into the second half, when he blasted an effort into the roof of the net at the near post.
A 2-1 lead for Sheffield FC with a comeback looking unlikely.
But Golcar didn’t let up, as Flynn looked to fire back. He went through on goal and slotted past the goalkeeper before the linesman flagged for a foul in the build-up.
Nobody really knew what the flag was for at first and it looked a dubious decision, nevertheless the score was still 2-1.
Golcar pushed for an equaliser and, down to ten men, gave an impressive effort.
A couple of chances followed, including a free kick on the edge of the box which Wadsworth put over the bar and then Flynn from inside the D had a shot on goal which he dragged just wide.
As players pushed forward though a late counterattack was converted by Hardwick, who grabbed a brace and killed off the game in similar fashion to his first finish.
It was defeat away again for Golcar as Sheffield FC do the double this season over the Weavers.
But the difference in performance from this defeat to the 3-0 loss at home to Sheffield earlier in the season, is a mark of the improvement over the course of the campaign.
Next week is huge for Golcar.
There’s a mid-week tie at home against Rossington who sit three points below us and in the relegation zone.
Then on the weekend a derby against Penistone Church.
