MATCH REPORT | Golcar United vs Parkgate (H)

Jack Howarth28 Mar - 19:00

Dominant display as The Village take all three points!

Golcar get back to winning ways after a super 4 goal performance against Parkgate in our penultimate home game of the season.

A defeat in our last home game to Barton ended a long-standing unbeaten run at the Skye Direct Stadium, despite that The Weavers looked confident as ever with a strong first half display.

Straight from the off, Golcar took control of the affair with chances coming from midfielders Ryan Wadsworth and Alfie Wilkinson. Wadsworth saw his volleyed chance blocked and Wilkinson saw his bending strike from distance well saved by Samuel Riches.

Ashley Flynn had his first really chance on the half hour mark, where he was falling backwards but managed to get his shot away that didn't trouble Riches. Not long after the striker found himself in behind the Parkgate defence but he dragged his effort wide from a tight angle.

Again the striker was causing a nuisance, Oliver Russon played Flynn through on goal but his shot was saved well by Riches in a one on one situation.

Flynn did eventually get his goal just before half time, as Russon slotted Flynn in before he finished superbly to give The Weavers a goal advantage at the break.

Straight after half time Golcar looked to continue their strong performance.

About 15 minutes after the break, Flynn was set through on goal until Callum Rudd tripped the attacked just before entering the box. The defender was given a straight red by the referee and from there it only got better for Golcar.

George Doyle had his first notable effort of the afternoon well saved by Riches as he found himself in space in the area. The captain tried to dink the keeper however Riches kept him out - but not for long.

Kiero Lawrence, after one of his trademark marauding runs forward, put the ball in the back of the net, but the linesman flag had gone up for an issue in the build up.

It wasn't long after until The Weavers bagged their crucial second goal, as substitute Rhomani Murray weaved his way int the area picked out Doyle who first time bent the ball into the far corner!

Almost immediately after the skipper added some insurance, Murray himself got in on the act. The exciting young talent latched onto the ball in the six yard box before smashing home Golcar's third.

The Weavers weren't done there though. The skipper tapped home from not even yard out as a wicked cross from the right hand side somehow went through Riches, to find Doyle at the back post. He was never missing from there and sealed the afternoon off with his trademark two, two, two!

Another great afternoon at the Skye Direct Stadium, in front of a massive 429 supporters.

It will be great to see as many of you return on Tuesday in our final game of the season in our rearranged match against Albion Sports. We hope to see you there!

Up The Village!
