PLAYER NEWS: Ryan Hall to take a break from football

Attacker, Ryan Hall, cites work and family commitments have influenced his decision

Ryan Hall, who signed for Golcar United in the summer of 2024, has decided to take a break from football due to family and work commitments.

'Hally' has suffered with injury this season and during his enforced break from training and playing regularly he has made the decision as his work commitments have changed and has a desire to spend more time with his young family for now.

We are sad that we won't see the former Curzon Ashton and Spennymoor man playing for the Weavers but we fully accept his choice and he goes with our blessing and nothing but appreciation for his time at the club.

It has been a pleasure to welcome Ryan and his family to Golcar United, and we'll certainly miss his smile and his absolute professionalism during his time at the club; and it goes without saying, he will always be welcome to the Skye Direct stadium.

Ryan Hall:
"Firstly, I would like to say it's been a pleasure playing for Golcar United for the past 18 months.

After suffering a serious injury over 2 years ago, this club and the people in it was exactly what I needed on my return to football after a season out.

It's a great club with great people and I'm sure it will continue to grow and have more success in the near future.

Having been out for a period of time this season, it has given me time to reflect; having a young family and work commitments has made it more difficult for me to commit to non-league and ultimately, it's made me want to spend more time with my family on weekends.

So, for now, it's time to hang up my boots- but that won't take much effort as they haven't been used for 6 weeks!

I wish the club, management and the players the very best and I'm sure I will be up to support with my family soon.

Up the Village!"

Manager, Joe Skarz, adds:
"First of all, a huge credit must go to Ash and Gav for getting of Ryan Hall's ability to commit to Golcar United 18 months ago.

In the 6 months of managing Ryan, it has been really 'Stop/Start' for him with slight niggles so I don't believe I have seen the best of him; a fully fit and firing Hally is a huge asset to any team at National League North level, let alone Step 5 so that's been really frustrating for Frankie and I, and Ryan himself.

It's important he spends quality time with his young family and Ryan was absolutely open and honest enough in our conversation to say that he doesn't feel he can give the commitment needed for the situation we are in currently.

We wish Hally nothing but the best and we'll look forward to him supporting us in the near future"
