Defender Adam Field decides to step away from football

Thank you for everything you've done for me
- Adam Field

It is with disappointment that we announce that popular Weaver, Adam Field, will be leaving Golcar United.

Adam, who also has a young family, has been offered an opportunity away from football that will reduce his availability for selection on a matchday and has therefore decided to place his boots under the bench for now. The club will still keep Fieldy's registration for the 2025/26 season should circumstances allow for his selection- though he will be available until 16th August.

Not only did Fieldy bring a heap of experience to Golcar United, he was a very calming and reassuring presence in defence; a player who many would describe as a "Rolls Royce. As well as Adam's footballing ability, his absolute professionalism and dedication to Golcar United, and his time for every fan and everyone associated to the club speaks volumes about him as a person.

Adam says:

"What a special club. Golcar United isn't just about football - it's about the people, community and a family feel that you rarely find in football. From the committee, to the management, players, volunteers and supporters, everyone pulls together and makes you feel valued the second you walk through the gate.

It's a proper club in every sense of the word - hardworking, honest, and full of heart. I've been proud to wear the badge and be part of what makes Golcar United so unique. Thank you for everything you've done for me.

Once a Villager, always a Villager!"

Manager, Joe Skarz, adds:

"On a football front, it's a huge loss with Fieldy leaving but what he brings in terms or professionalism, leadership, driving standards in training constantly are qualities that many don't always get to see.

I've got so much respect and admiration for him as a person; we've known each other since a very young age from the academy at Huddersfield Town and his values, morals and non-negotiables align with what we, as a management team, look for".

The committee and trustees would like to place on record their thanks and best wishes to Adam in his future endeavours. His qualities on and off the field epitomise what is it to be part of our club, and we're so thankful for his service and for all the matches he represented our club so well in.

We would also like to thank John Sykes, Joshua Sykes and Thomas Bailey for their repeated sponsorship of Adam Field.

Don't be a stranger, Chief!
