Player Departures
Golcar United can announce Will Morrissey and Rion Arbouin have left the club.
Although Will had originally agreed to sign a contract, which we announced, he has decided to sign for Silsden AFC, citing the opportunity to play at Step 4 was an opportunity he didn’t want to turn down.
Will played a major part in Joe Skarz’s first season and produced a host of great performances culminating in him winning the Management Player of the Year award.
Will Morrissey had the following to say:
“I loved my time at Golcar, playing in front of the fans every week was a privilege and I’ll miss it.
I feel I improved and developed massively under Skarzy and Frankie after they gave me the opportunity to play 37 games last season in multiple positions.
The decision was a very tough one and was purely based on me having an opportunity to play higher. Thank you for having me.”
Rion Arbouin has also departed the club.
Joe Skarz adds:
"Losing Will is disappointing but gives us pride too as a football club. He was fantastic last season playing in every league game and really found a position in the second half of the season that suited him. A great character who we often referred to as "Donut" because of his lack of common sense but such a great lad!
Will has an opportunity to play at a higher level and I will never begrudge that of any player"
Rion leaves us looking to pursue somewhere closer to home which I fully understand as he is Sheffield based.
A great lad with a fantastic attitude we wish him well"
Both players leave with our best wishes and we wish them luck in their future endeavours.
Injury Update
Callum Petch is awaiting an operation for his ACL injury suffered vs Route One Rovers earlier this season, which will take place in October.
Joe Skarz adds:
"Petchy now has an idea of when his operation will be which is peace of mind for him. He's still part of the group and it's important we still make him feel part of it during his rehab of the injury too".
Keep your eyes peeled for future signing announcements!
