Golcar will be looking for an instant snapback to a disappointing one-nil loss to Bottesford Town last time out. A second-half goal from the Scunthorpe-based side sealed them the three points—forcing the away side to return to Golcar winless in their last four league games.
Ash and Gav Connor’s side is set to play at the Skye Direct Stadium for the first time this calendar year to face Albion Sports; the Village will arrive in their Village hoping for a big three points to keep runaway league leaders Silsden in somewhat touching distance.
It was Albion who took the three points in the reverse fixture earlier this season when Golcar visited them in Bradford. The Lions went two goals to the good early on, but it was Shane Killock and Slater Barnes who grabbed two goals in the space of sixty seconds to draw Golcar level—all was unraveled, however, as the hosts scored a dramatic winner at the death, snatching two points from the hands of the travelling Weavers.
Golcar fans won’t have too far to travel for this; it could be labeled a local derby. Based in Bradford, Albion play their home games at the Horsfall Stadium—a ground that they share with Bradford Park Avenue and rugby league sides West Bowling and Bradford Bulls (Academy). Founded in 1974, the Lions switched from Sundays to Saturdays in 2007, and they have been members of the NCEL since 2011.
Saturday’s opponents currently sit seventh in the Premier Division table on forty points; however, they do have up to six games in hand on some of the sides above them. The peak of the table is not unfamiliar territory for Albion, who finished fifth last season—sweeping aside Campion before ultimately losing to Garforth Town in the final on penalties.
