The Weavers face The Beavers.

An in-form Golcar side will be looking to build on Saturday’s emphatic comeback away at Goole as they play host to Beverley Town on Tuesday night. The Weavers will be eyeing up back-to-back destructions of East Yorkshire sides.

This past weekends trip to Goole saw Golcar record their third victory on the trot, scoring thirteen goals in the process. Despite taking a very early lead through Sam Pashley, Golcar were set to go into half-time behind after conceding three penalties, two of which were converted, however top goalscorer George Doyle had other plans, scoring a spot-kick of his own before the break. After a presumably inspiring team-talk from their co-managers, the away side flew out of the blocks in the second half as they almost immediately reinstated their lead via Callum Petch before Alfie Wilkinson and Ollie Russon put the game to bed.

The Weavers face promotion-chasing Beverley Town in this week’s chilly midweek fixture, and everyone involved will be wanting more of the same – bar goalkeeper Harry Stead, who likely doesn’t want to face three penalties in one half again.

The Beavers entered the NCEL in 2022 alongside Golcar and were founded two years prior to them, in 1902. Promoted from Division One last season after amassing 103 points in the regular season, Beverley have taken to the higher step like a duck to water, only outside of the play-off zone on goal difference with ten games to play.

Participating in their first FA cup since 1919, Beverley hosted Whitley Bay in the Extra Preliminary Round this season with 912 fans going through the gates at Norwood Park – setting a new record attendance for that round.

Another three points would put Golcar three points behind league leaders Silsden, reigniting the title race. Therefore, The Weavers will be looking to avenge the defeat they suffered in Beverley in September.
