Saturday afternoon’s trip to Parkgate wielded no extra points for Golcar, but it did spell the end of a phenomenal regular season. Jerome Bedeau scored his goal sandwiched in between two for the home side – as they took home three points for the final time this season.
This means after a competitive, successful season – The Weavers ended their campaign in third place. This Saturday, Beverley Town will return to The Skye Direct Stadium in a fight for a place in the final – against Hallam or Thackley.
Last time The Beavers visited HD7 was just last month as they came and left with nothing following a three-nil rout from The Weavers. First half strikes from George Doyle and Alfie Wilkinson were scored to no response and Callum Petch added the cherry on the top with a handful of minutes to spare.
The only other meeting between the two sides in their history came last September at the beginning of the campaign, with Beverley taking all three points in a tight 2-1 victory.
The Beavers entered the NCEL in 2022 alongside Golcar. Promoted from Division One last season after amassing 103 points in the regular season, Beverley have taken to the higher step like a duck to water as the eye up back-to-back promotions.
An almighty season for the Beavers also saw them set a new attendance record in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round as 912 fans went through the turnstile for their fixture against Whitley Bay.
Not doing anything on Saturday? Get yourself down to the game and get behind the lads and their huge promotion push. Support your local side, especially in times like this. Up the Village!
