With our run of form put on hold following two defeats on the bounce, the Weavers will be looking to secure three points against struggling bottom of the league Winterton on Saturday.
Following a late defeat to Knaresborough last weekend, Golcar faced Silsden in the cup on Tuesday, suffering a 3-0 defeat. The visiting side opened the scoring early on and sealed their victory with a further two coming in the 76th and 82nd minute, putting to bed any hopes of a home comeback.
This week we travel to Winterton Rangers who find themselves bottom of the table and relegation bound. The side has struggled to find any home momentum this season, picking up just one win at their ground. With only five wins under their belt, they find themselves on 21 points, scoring just 21 times in 35 games.
Winterton Rangers FC were founded in 1934. They were originally an intermediate side before becoming members of the Scunthorpe & District league following the Second World War. In 1982-83 they became founder members of the Northern Counties East League, when the Yorkshire League and Midland League amalgamated. Yet just two seasons later the club folded due to financial issues.
Rangers then re-entered the NCEL Division 2 in 1986 and after several poor seasons they won the Division 2 title in 1989-90 and were promoted directly to the Premier Division. The club has been known for their effective balance of experience and youth, which led them to a county cup victory in the 09/10 season. Now, however, the club find themselves relegation bound.
Golcar will be looking to make the most of this and pick up a crucial three points with just five games left in the season.
